Exploring the Experiences of Black Engineers in Canada

Our Research

Explore how the intersections of race and gender shape Black engineers’ experiences and professional identity construction, and how race and gender are conceptualized and constituted through cultural practices and policies in the engineering sectors.

Research Purpose

The purpose of this study is to identify and understand the experiences of Black engineers by utilizing Black feminist theory as a theoretical framework; the voices and experiences of Black engineers are present as a counter-narrative, which speaks against discrimination, stereotypical representations, and regulation of Black bodies in engineering sectors.

Research Study

In-depth research on the experiences of
Black engineers the unique challenges
they face, the successes they achieve,
and the impact of their contributions to
the engineering field.

Professional Development

Materials, gathered from our literature
review, offer valuable insights and
information on the experiences of black
engineers in Canada.
